This has to be the longest winter ever with promised temperatures in double figures not appearing this week either!
Nevertheless our first wedding of the year was last week in the beautiful surroundings of the wood panelling and stained glass windows of Pollokshields Burgh Hall. Glasgow architect Henry Edward Clifford designed the new hall in 17th Century Scottish Rennaissance style using dark red sandstone and featuring a 60-foot tower set in the peaceful Maxwell Park. Residents of Pollokshields at the time gifted numerous stained glass windows to add to the wooden panelling and ornate cornicing, all of which have been lovingly maintained by Pollokshields Burgh Hall Trust all these years.
On this occasion the bride added a quirky signing table of an old Singer sewing machine table which fitted perfectly with the wood panelling and then glass bottles and vases in shades of the stained glass windows.
