New Year

It is 2010.  The weather has been very, very cold, -7C regularly at night and often only -3C in the day.  The lovely snow that fell before Christmas soon turned to a thick layer of ice making the outdoors treacherous.  Then snow again this morning – I love the snow clinging to branches and leaves.  That is until I realised that some shrubs weighed down by snow, had touched the ground and then been frozen there all bent over for weeks.  I am hardly daring to think what havoc the weather has caused some of my plants, especially ones planted in the last 6 months so not so well snow-2010established.  As for the hardy annuals to get a head start?  Well, overall, nature has a way of rejuvenating, so I will just have to wait and see what appears and flourishes again in spring. Happy New Year!
