Those of you who subscribe to my newsletter will know that I had the challenge of decorating a stairwell and huge stained glass windows for a midsummer party. After many hours of preparation the stairs were decked with honeysuckle and ivy, window displays were a bounty of yellow and white and the largest windows had sheaves of foliage and sweet williams to name a few of the plants used. What made it a special task for me was not just the dramatic venue but also that I had been asked to take all the flowers and foliage from the owner’s garden, (so very local, seasonal and Scottish grown!). This made it a very personal display which I hope added to the occasion for the hosts – we did manage it with very few additional flowers from my cutting garden. A great challenge but the result was worth it.
